Tristan "Body" Romero, a suspect in a New Iberia shooting nearly two years ago, has been convicted on numerous charges.

The 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says Romero robbed the victim at gunpoint on May 25, 2015, while the victim was waiting to pick up food at a local drive thru on Hopkins Street in New Iberia. Then, after the victim tossed out the $7.00 he had on him, Romero shot him and ran away.
The incident was captured on surveillance video.
Romero’s sentencing is scheduled for June 1 of this year. Because Romero has a prior felony conviction for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, he may be sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison.
Romero was convicted unanimously on Attempted First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery with the Use of a Firearm, and Intimidation of a Witness.
