The Cajuns Offense Sputters As App State Wins Sun Belt Battle
It was a defensive battle out at Cajun Field on Wednesday evening in the Sun Belt but Appalachian State was able to do a little bit more when it mattered the most as they defeat the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 17-7.
It was a clean game on both sides as neither team committed a turnover or many penalties but it was a late pass interference by defensive back Eric Garror that allowed the Mountaineers to extend a drive on 4th down deep in Cajun territory.
Appalachian State got their first touchdown in the first quarter on a Zac Thomas run, something that he beat the Cajuns with twice tonight. Louisiana had been very good at containing quarterbacks who had the ability to run the football until tonight.
The defense shut down leading rusher Darrynton Evans to the tune of 22 carries for 69 yards.

That drive resulted in Zac Thomas' second touchdown of the night.
With the loss, the Cajuns fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Belt.
Next up, Louisiana will travel to Arkansas State to face the Red Wolves on Thursday, October 17th. Arkansas State has been a house of horrors for Louisiana as they've won just twice there in 28 years...
