Topgolf has been searching for a home in Louisiana and now the Dallas-based company may have just found their spot.

According to The Advocate, the high-tech driving range has applied for a permit to build a 55,000 square-foot facility at the old Tinseltown location off I-10 near Siegan Lane. A spokesperson for Topgolf couldn't provide a timeline for the Baton Rouge location but said it takes approximately a year to build.

We’ve had our sights set on Louisiana for a while and we’re evaluating our options. We hope to announce our first Louisiana location sometime soon.

In early 2016, Topgolf said they were looking at a few markets in the south including potential locations in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Earlier this year, there was a rumor of them potentially eyeing the old Times-Picayune location near the Pontchartrain Expressway, and now the excitement is starting to build over the potential Baton Rouge location.

Topgolf has 33 locations worldwide and their website shows that 16 more are slated to open in the near future. Their concept revolves around golf balls equipped with microchips that can read the data of every drive in terms of distance and accuracy. Topgolf also serves a full bar along with a food menu featuring burgers, wings and more.

Would you make the trip from Lafayette to Baton Rouge for the Topgolf experience?
