A former local high school football star, and a former member of the New Orleans Saints, is trying to make a comeback with the team.

The minicamp was being used as a tryout for Walker and others, including former LSU safety Rickey Jefferson.

Signed by the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Tulsa in 2012, Walker, a defensive lineman, was basically a project over the first two years of his career, playing in seven games, while accumulating 9 tackles and a sack.

It was 2014 when Walker began to open some eyes, totaling 19 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a force fumble in 16 games.

Surprisingly, the Saints didn't tender Walker a contract, and he ended up signing a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions for an estimated $1.75 million.

Things didn't go as planned for Walker in Detroit however, as he suffered a broken leg in the fourth game of the 2015 season, and was placed on injured reserve after only registering nine total tackles.

A native of New Iberia, Walker appeared in 15 games for the Lions in 2016, including 8 starts, while racking up 26 tackles.

Last season, the 6-foot-3, 310-pound Walker appeared in all 16 games for the Los Angeles Rams, compiling 22 tackles, including one sack.

In parts of 6 NFL seasons, the 28-year old Walker has accumulated 85 tackles, including 4.5 sacks.
