A lot has been written and said about the high-profile commitments that the Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team has received for the 2021 and 2022 signing classes.

Just last week, we gave you an update on a list of commitments for both years that many feel will give the Cajuns one of the top recruiting classes in the entire country.

These aren't just good players committing to coach Gerry Glasco; they're elite players, who have made UL the talk of the softball recruiting world.

This type of thing normally has a domino effect, in that you have to get the first one to make yourself more attractive to the others.

Shortstop Lauren Harris, from Mount Vernon, Illinois may be the name to remember, if these commitments turn out to be as special as advertised.

A commitment to Louisiana's 2022 signing class, Harris pledged to the Cajuns back in December.

A member of the 2017 12U USA Softball State & National Champion Illinois Force, Harris led her travel ball squad in batting average, runs batted in, on base percentage, and slugging percentage, while collecting more extra base hits than singles for the season.

The 5-foot-6, 135-pound Harris is regarded as a 5-tool player, who a program can build around.

Ranked #14 by Extra Innings Softball among the top 100 prospects of 2022, Harris participated in the 2017 USA Softball All-American Games in Oklahoma City and the 2018 Softball Factory All-American Rookie Game in Houston, and has been selected to participate in the 2018 Scout Softball National Showcase.

Harris is outstanding in the classroom as well, ranking at the top of her class, while being selected as the winner of the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association Jim Burnes Leadership Award, as well as the Illinois Principals Association Student Recognition Award.

Without question, Harris is a major get for Louisiana!
