Westgate High Student Arrested For Gun On Campus
A Westgate High student is being held at the Iberia Parish Jail after his arrest for bringing a gun and ammunition on school grounds today.
Iberia Parish Sheriff's spokesman Maj. Wendell Raborn said 19-year-old Deon'tre Joseph was detained by the school's principal after suspicions arose about a gun on campus.

A search of Joseph's backpack yielded a .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun with accompanying ammunition.
Joseph was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on charges including: illegal carrying of a weapon and carrying a firearm on school property.
No bond has been set.
