Zion Williamson Has Surgery On Knee, To Miss 6 to 8 Weeks
The anticipated debut of New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson will have to wait.
Williamson underwent successful arthroscopic surgery today to repair torn right lateral meniscus, according to the Pelicans.
The surgery was done by Dr. Jason Folk with assistance from the Pelicans Team Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Misty Suri.
Timetable for his return is between 6 and 8 weeks, putting his debut sometime in early or mid-December.
New Orleans head coach Alvin Gentry stated last week he thought Williamson injured his knee sometime during the preseason win over the Spurs last week.
He did not travel with the team to New York on Friday for their final preseason game against the Knicks.
He played in the previous 4 preseason games, averaging a sensational 23.3 points and 6.5 rebounds in only 27.3 minutes per contest.
