It's an amazing time for Basin Arts in Lafayette. Today Governor John Bel Edwards was on hand to help cut the ribbon for the new home of the Lafayette non-profit organization.

A local property developer, Ravi Daggula, along with his investment groups is really making an investment in the Northside of Lafayette by buying the property of a church to be the new home of Basin Arts.

What Is Basin Arts?

Basin Arts is a space for creative people to come together in one space to collaborate. It's a way to bring our creative culture to everyone in the community through affordable classes and events. The new space for Basin Arts will be the former House of Faith Gospel Church on Jefferson Street.

What Are the Plan for the New Facility?

The plans for the new facility include a performance space in the church. There will also be additional areas that will be utilized for art and dance in the building adjacent to the church.

On behalf of the board, I can definitely say we're excited to have this project to look forward to. It's been in the works for a few months, and with the governor's visit today, it felt more real than ever that the project is finally taking off.
