A Louisiana high school baseball standout committed to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Wednesday.

A junior at DeRidder, Menard, who is also an outfielder, will graduate in 2020, and will be college eligible in 2021.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Menard helped DeRidder reach the Class 4A championship game last year for the first time since 2003, tossing shutouts in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, limiting the opposition to only three hits, while striking out 27 batters in 14 innings.

During his sophomore season, Menard went 11-2 with a 0.51 ERA, while compiling 147 strikeouts in 82 innings pitched.

At the plate last season, Menard hit .382 and drove in 29 runs, while scoring 41 runs.

For his efforts, Menard, who currently throws a mid-80's fastball, was named an LSWA Class 4A All-State selection.

As a freshman in 2017, Menard was named to the LSWA Class 4A All-State Team, while also being tabbed a MaxPreps 2017 Underclass All-American, after hitting a .385 in his first year of high school baseball.
