The Lafayette Fire Department says a home that was being renovated sustained heavy damage in a fire Friday night (August 3). The structure located at the corner of Pinhook and Gauthier road was reported to be under renovation at the time of the blaze.

A commenter on the KATC Facebook page, Michelle Guidry, explained a little bit of history about the property.

When crews arrived on the scene shortly after 7:30 PM they noticed smoke coming from the building. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control in less than half an hour but the structure did sustain significant damage.

There were no injuries reported and traffic in the area and on Pinhook Road returned to its normal flow after the blaze was extinguished.
