The push for a transparent budget process failed in Baton Rouge, but Lafayette Parish school board members are set to vote on a similar plan this week. Voters and business leaders supported a plan to create an easy-to-search website to track state spending. The site would be based on program in the state of Ohio. It failed to make it out of committee during the special legislative session in Baton Rouge.

Board Member Justin Centanni says LPSS has teamed up with the same developers who built OhioCheckbook.com. The platform would show every expenditure from utility bills to district salaries. If approved, the site would be LafayetteCheckbook.com.

The issue will come to a vote at the regular board meeting this Wednesday.
