His name is synonymous with football greatness. Jim Taylor was the running back that a generation of football fans grew to know as one of the best there ever was. Jim Taylor, the standout running back for the Green Bay Packers of the NFL and the LSU Tigers has died.

Jim Taylor amassed 8,207 yards for Vince Lombardi's Packers during his tenure with the team. He was the starting fullback on six of seven Green Bay Packer championship teams. Taylor also spent one season on the roster of the New Orleans Saints back in 1967.

Before his pro days, Taylor was featured in the backfield at LSU. Taylor earned All-American honors during his college days. In 1957 he shared the backfield with another LSU great Billy Cannon.

Jim Taylor was 83 years old.
