Sanders, Craighton Named First Team All-Americans
For the first time since 1995, two Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns softball players have been named first team All Americans.
The announcement was made today by the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association.
Shortstop D. J. Sanders and outfielder Aleah Craighton earned the honors, becoming the first duo to be honored in the same year since LHP Cheryl Longeway and OF Kathy Morton.
Sanders, the Sun Belt Player of the Year, led the country in seven different offensive categories, including home runs, RBI and slugging percentage. She was one of the ten finalists for USA Softball Player of the Year.
Craighton was a .345 hitter, smashed eighteen homers and drove in 53 runs. Half of her hits (25-50) went for extra bases. She was named the most outstanding player of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and was named the league's female Student-Athlete of the year for the 2016-17 academic year.
