Alabama head football coach Nick Saban dismissed linebacker VanDarius Cowan from the team on Monday.


That can be a pretty broad term.

Well, now we know what the violation was.

The Tuscaloosa News says Cowan was charged with third-degree assault, after punching a 26-year old man in the face at a bar on the morning of June 23.

The victim required 7 stitches, and Cowan posted a $500 bond without having to go to jail.

The 19-year old Cowan, a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida played in seven games last season, finishing with two tackles.
