One man is warning Facebook users about "beggars" at the I-10-Ambassador Caffery exit.

While working in old Sam's Club parking lot next to the exit, Corey Guidry has a pretty good eye on what happens at the intersection, and one thing in particular caught his eye. He noticed a man drive up in what he called a "2000ish model Toyota 4runner."

What he saw next made him post up a warning to those who may be giving money that is now going viral.

I've always been a firm believer that if you give money to someone claiming to be in need, you have to give to them knowing that they may not necessarily use it to better their situation. On the other hand, I'm also a firm believer in honesty—but in this situation the former definitely trumps the latter.

Reactions to Guidry's post were mixed. Some agreed with him, and doubled down on seeing the same people collecting money at that intersection and allegedly using the cash for "booze."

He is part of a group that begs around that area. They go beg for money in shifts so that its not always the same person standing there. At the end of the day the group gets together and split what they got that day and usually end up with around 200 to 300 a day.

Others argued that those judging may not know the full story behind the men asking for money.

That's not a 2000s body style four runner. It's a late 1990s. Had the white truck been his I may be a little more concerned. I agree with previous statements, you have no idea if he has lost his income and is sleeping in that 20 year old vehicle. It may be all he has left.

Some people were indifferent about the situation, but don't want it affecting their commute.

If you want to give them money that is completely your choice. However please don't stop while the light is green and hold up traffic.

For the record, soliciting on an interstate is against state law (La R.S. 14:97.1) and is punishable by a fine of up to two hundred dollars, six months in jail, or both.
