A former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball player is being relied heavily upon by her current school.

Former Cajun Abby Sterling is hitting in the clean-up spot for the Louisiana College Wildcats.

Actually, Sterling appeared as a pinch hitter for Louisiana College when the Wildcats opened their 2018 season against Millsaps, before batting clean-up, as a designated hitter, in the second game.

Millsaps won the opener, 7-1, before also winning the second game, 9-1.

Sterling, who went 0-for-4 on the day, is expected to hit in the middle of the Louisiana College batting order all year.

A native of Beaumont, Texas, Sterling prepped at West Brook High School, before signing with Louisiana.

Last season, Sterling went 4-for-10 in limited playing time for the Cajuns, to go along with one homer and 5 runs batted in.

Sterling's lone home run while at Louisiana came in the final day of play of the 2017 Mardi Gras Invitational, when she went yard against Mississippi Valley St.

Sterling transferred to Louisiana College, a Division III school, prior to the start of the fall semester.

We wish her the very best in her final two years of college softball at Louisiana College.
