Jennings Man Arrested On Counterfeiting And Other Charges

A Jennings man is finding out just how expensive that meal he allegedly attempted to pilfer is going to really cost him. Authorities in Jeff Davis Parish say that Claude McDowell was dining at a Jennings restaurant yesterday (Oct.25) when workers notified police that he was attempting to pay for his meal with a fake $20 bill.

As Jeff Davis Parish Deputies arrived on the scene and approached him, McDowell attempted to run. McDowell had to be tased by officers in order to be subdued. Once apprehended police discovered McDowell had drug paraphernalia in his possession. A further search of his car uncovered drugs and an electronic scale.

McDowell was arrested and charged drug crimes and resisting officers. He is currently in custody in Jeff Davis Parish.
