Two members of the LSU Tigers are among the finalists for the award for the top defensive player in the nation.


The Bednarik Award, named after Chuck Bednarik, is presented annually to the best defensive player in the nation, as voted upon by the Maxwell Football Club.

A sophomore from Houston, Texas, Delpit has compiled 54 total tackles this season, to go along with 8.5 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 5 interceptions.

A junior from Spinghill, Louisiana, White has tallied 76 total tackles, to go along with 7 tackles for loss and one sack.

Former LSU defensive backs Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu are former LSU players to win the Bednarik Award, in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
