Bitter Cold Temperatures Moving Back In To Acadiana

Temperatures across South Louisiana were a lot more tolerable over the weekend thanks to some warm sunshine and the fact that the wind quit blowing so hard. I hope you enjoyed yesterday and will enjoy today's nicer weather because changes are coming and they are coming quickly.

By tomorrow clouds will begin to move back into the area bringing with them a chance of showers. The catalyst for that chance of showers is a strong cold front being pushed by a strong influx of bitterly cold arctic air. Depending on the timing of the frontal passage there is a chance some of the precipitation could be mixed with sleet and snow flurries. 

The cold front should move through Acadiana during the day on Tuesday. When it passes you will notice the change almost instantly. The winds will pick up from the north-northwest and begin blowing at 20 to 30 mph. The day's high temperature will take place early on Tuesday as temperatures will plummet with the passing of the front.

Wednesday morning low-temperature readings are expected to be in the low 20's. This will likely prompt freeze warnings for much of the area during the evening hours. Thursday morning will also find low temperatures dropping below 25 degrees across much of the area as well.

By the end of the week, you can expect temperatures to return to near normal readings for this time of year.
